A BANKRUPT COUNTRY coming soon to your neighborhood, at a yearly cost of USD 700 billion and rising.

The mere mention of losing our way of life will most likely arouse mixed feelings, especially if we say that this could happen in the next ten years at the most. If we choose to accept the opinion of Texas billionaire oilman T. Boone Pickens then we are headed for a complete melt-down. For a sober, more detailed presentation see this link:You'll find a wealth of information here.

Regardless of what some media talking heads may try to promote, I'll take my chances with someone with 50-plus years in the oil business. As wealthy as this country may be, we cannot afford to drain our resources at the rate of USD 700 billion each year. Even without factoring in rising oil price per barrel, this still adds up to SEVEN TRILLION DOLLARS, in the next ten-year period. T. Boone has a workable plan to reduce our dependency on foreign oil by implementing all available alternate energy souces. He is focusing on natural gas and wind turbines, two areas he knows inside out.

The universal feeling of "pain at the pump" is the probable cause of our growing sense of frustration, anger and helplessness. The soaring energy prices are hurting us in ways we never would have believed a year ago. Having to make painful and difficult choices such as a single mother having to decide between a child's school supplies and filling the car's gas tank. There are many, many choices having to be made nowadays, choices that will be painful, accompanied by widespread unrest. Perhaps this is the reason for the phenominal growth of the informal volunteer group known as "Boone's Army." Begun just three weeks ago it now numbers over 83,000 volunteers from all walks of life. This army has no partisan political agenda but it is in complete support of the Pickens Plan. The main goal is to contact our elected officials from State Governor to U.S. Senator and give them a clear forceful message that we will no longer tolerate our ship of state drifting the way it has been for the last 40 years, without any energy plan or leadership.

I would encourage every one of you who reads this to get involved right now. If this appears to have a note of urgency, so be it. We cannot afford to spend one more day in apathy or ignorance, the cost will break us as a nation. Let your voice be heard in Washington, D.C. every week. Let's all pull together. It will be rewarding in the end.

Yeah at least he came up with a solid plan with specific details. It is something to get behind.

Makes PERFECT sense to be going in this direction! We have to get away from being dependent on foreign (many of them not even friendly to us ) countries for our major sources of energy.
